Rode Hoed

Oosterhuiszaal

A former hidden church, large but intimate

This former hidden church from the seventeeth century is the largest of its kind in The Netherlands. A unique location with wooden pillars, authentic woodwork and two balconies. A former priest discovered the building being unused by 1989, and decided to change its function into a meeting place for debate on societal issues. This room is named after the co-founder of the Rode Hoed, Huub Oosterhuis. The beautiful historical look of this room is known by many Dutch people, as popular tv-shows and political debates were recorded here.

The Oosterhuiszaal is perfect for big ceremonies, dinners, congresses, shows and parties. It has two floors and some unique original elements such as the organ, which can still be played. The pillars, the pulpit, the windows, the ceiling and the floors are all almost in their original state, but still provide the comfort needed. The room is flexible in terms of set-up and lighting, and the acoustics are great. Our technical support is always included in the price. The Oosterhuiszaal is your place to be for large events with a historical backdrop.
